The difference between the extreme metal audience in Brazil and abroad, according to Krisiun

Max Kolesne, Alex Camargo and Moyses Kolesne praised the death metal band’s Brazilian audience

One of the most important names in death metal in the last 30 years, both in Brazil and in the world, Krisiun has a lot of schedule abroad and also performs several shows in the country of origin, but the band members, Max Kolesne (battery), Alex Camargo (vocals, bass) and Moyses Kolesne (vocals, guitar), recognize the differences in each scene.

During an interview with Rolling Stone Brazilthe three brothers recognized how in North America and Europe there is a much greater acceptance of death metal and other styles of extreme music, while in Brazil there is still a certain prejudice, even with a strong audience.

“It’s something we’ve been fighting for a long time. Regardless of the style we play, we manage to transcend the limits of the style a little,” he said Alex. “We can get into certain places where the style practically doesn’t exist.”

Are you going to a show? Krisiun and there are punks, guys who like trash metal, keavy metal… it depends a lot on what the band is producing and doing. There are a lot of good bands, but sometimes they lack a little support, or even dedication to creating something really new. So it’s something that we go through a little.

Right away, Alex explained how the band’s hard work, with a lot of dedication, helped the Krisiun to overcome this limit and barrier that the musical genre can bring. For example, the three brothers’ shows feature a true meeting of different rock “tribes”.

“Metal is a little closed in Brazil. The style of heavy metal and trash metal. The fact that we have been fighting for a long time and developing work by recording and going on tour, you end up passing the limitation of a style and being taxed: ‘This is death metal, that’s trash metal,'” continued the bassist and vocalist.

It ends up being all metal. For you to develop this, you only need years of work and recording.

Regarding the Brazilian public, Max Kolesne cited sold-out shows in the country, even with difficulty reaching what is fashionable in music: “Even in the more mainstream environment, access is not so easy, but extreme metal in Brazil – public, band and producers – is doing well. “

According to the drummer, Krisiun managed to maintain a loyal audience, while attracting attention and winning over younger fans, aged 17 and 18. “We see that this style of sound, extreme metal, regardless of what happens in the scene with ups and downs, trends, it doesn’t die. It is eternal and will remain firm, and we will remain firm together,” he stated.
