With the celebration of Benito di Paula’s eightieth birthday, the musician highlighted his entire career through the project Benito 80: New Samba Always New (2022), which brought together 17 artists interpret the songbook of Benitoand the new album Infallible Zen (2021).
Now, Benito AND Rodrigo Vellozofather and son present the new EP The way life wants itreleased in September, performing the song that gives the show its name and paying homage to it Ataulfo Alvesalong with a repertoire that spans Benito’s career up to this release, in a special show at Tokyo Navy HallIn St. Paul. The event will take place on October 8 and tickets, which cost between R$90 and R$220are now available on Eventim.
“The repertoire will be composed of the successes of my father’s career and our latest EP, but will also include songs linked to our emotional memories, to our history. In addition to O Infalível Zen, the title track of the album published by us in 2021 and The master room of my longing, my solo album of 2020”States Vellozo.
The show will feature a full band accompanying father and son on stage, unlike recent performances which had a more intimate format.
Based on the study of the contribution of the artist’s work to Brazilian music, the most recent project paid homage to him through the EP The way life wants it. “This launch is an understanding in which we come to consider the work of my father, Benito Di Paula, as one of the foundations of the aesthetic construction of samba from the 70s onwards.
