The state of the death metal scene in Brazil, according to Krisiun

The brothers Max Kolesne, Alex Camargo and Moyses Kolesne took the opportunity to exalt the Brazilian public for extreme music

Responsible for forming the band Krisiunone of the main death metal in Brazil and the world, the brothers Max Kolesne (battery), Alex Camargo (vocals, bass) and Moyses Kolesne (vocals, guitar) have been part of extreme music for approximately 30 years – and reflected on the scene in the group’s home country.

If you compare it to abroad, death metal and extreme music in Brazil do not have as much structure as in the United States or Europe, but the Brazilian public is very loyal and one of the main forces of the genre.

“In terms of audience, it’s pretty cool. We’ve done a lot of shows in Brazil, which were sold-out, there’s a lot of audience… it’s strong! Even in the more mainstream world there is a certain prejudice, access is not so easy, but extreme metal in Brazil – public, bands and producers – is doing well,” he said Max in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil.

Krisiun is a band that has been on the road for 30 years. We play and see the same fans as 20 years ago, as well as a new generation coming, with kids aged 17/18 and guys aged 50,” continued the drummer in the conversation.

We see that this style of sound, extreme metal – regardless of what happens in the scene, the ups and downs of fashion – does not die, it is eternal. He will stand firm and we will stand firm together.

Krisiuna big name in Brazilian death metal, is the next attraction at Rolling Stone Sessions, which will be held exclusively at Cine Joia. In a press release, the brothers said that Mortem Solis it comes like a white-hot blade from a prefabricated musical culture. It is a fierce and aggressive death metal, however, extremely worked – which can be seen in the tracks “Serpent Messiah”, “Sworn Enemies”, “Swords into Flesh” It is “War Blood Hammer”.

“We had really new ideas coming in Mortem Solis“, it says Moyses Kolesneguitarist of Krisiun. “Maybe because we stopped for two years [devido a pandemia], but we’ve also seen the metal scene become more commercial and fake. As an old band, we keep it real and that’s our mission at the moment – to bring real death metal back.”

Inspired by several extreme metal bands, including Slayer, Venom, Destruction, Motörhead, Morbid Angel and the famous countryman Gravethe band says the new project is more “direct”, which shows the vision of Alex, Moses It is Max about the current heavy metal scene, taking into account the individual evolution of each member as a brother, person and musician.

We cut out everything we considered unnecessary to make it as brutal as possible. Without using a computer or click-tracks – all in the true spirit of death metal. We had a lot of fun together. It was this cohesion that gave us Krisiun’s path, the path we are on and will continue to follow.”
