After declining Anitta’s invitation to do a version of “Mil Veces”, saying that she was “in another phase of my career”, Melody proved that, on the contrary, she remains the same, releasing a version of a another song by Anitta, unauthorized.
Collector of controversy and problems for the unauthorized recording of versions of other artists, Melody revealed this Thursday (26/10) an excerpt from the video of “Cara de Anjo”, a reinterpretation of “Meiga e Abusada”, a hit that marked the beginning of his career as Anita.
In a video posted to Instagram, the teenager sings new lyrics to a remix of “Meiga e Abusada”, covered by singer Jall. And she teases too in the caption: “Improved music.”
Anitta couldn’t resist and sent it back to the 16-year-old funk singer: “Will I publish this?” she wrote.
It’s not the first time
For those who don’t remember, the two artists began arguing after Melody decided to do a version of “Faking Love” without asking permission. “It is automatic that my record company’s algorithm automatically removes any published content that contains my voice or my image and is not previously authorized,” Anitta explained at the time, adding that the eleven “owners” of the song would have to be contacted to transfer the rights to the version of Melody.
Melody has scheduled the clip for release this Friday (10/27). The opening scene shows that the video also copies the look of the original clip. She compares below.
