The gospel music show will be held on November 30 in the town of Piranhas, inland from Alagoas
The name of a gospel event has gone viral and generated controversy on social media. The municipality of Piranhas, in the hinterland of Alagoas, will hold the event Piranha for Jesus: a neo-Pentecostal event with performances to “renew faith and deepen divine love”.
The announcement was made by mayor of the city, Tiago Freitas, on Instagram. “Ready for a special night of worship? Join us at the second edition of the evangelical event ‘Piranhas para Jesus’, which will take place on November 30, starting at 6 pm, in the Pátio do Forrogaço. A night to renew faith and immerse yourself in divine love!”
But the play on words on the city’s name got people talking. “They should be ashamed, more respect! The name of the event was ridiculous. I have no idea,” wrote one Internet user.
“Reading the comments I see how humanity is increasingly sick. The name of the event refers to a city, to a people. The Piranhas deserve respect. The people of the Piranhas deserve respect. The city of the Piranhas belongs to the Lord Jesus, yes,” another user vents.
OR Piranha for Jesus it will take place on November 30, starting at 6 pm, in a courtyard of the municipality, with a show by the gospel singer Gabriela Rocha and the group Ministério Presença e Glória.
