Musician Mingau, bassist of the band Ultraje a Rigor, will be honored by some of Brazil’s most famous rockers with a benefit show on December 14, at the Bradesco Theater, in Sao Paulo. Among the names confirmed in the presentation are Dinho Ouro Preto (Initial Capital), Clemente (Inocentes), Edgar Scandurra (“Ira!), Nasi (Ira!), Roger Moreira (Ultraje a Rigor), Marcelo Nova (Camisa de Vênus) , Tico Santa Cruz (Detonautas), Mauricio Gasperini (Rádio Táxi), Rodrigo Lima (Dead Fish), Leo Jaime, Kiko Zambianchi and other exponents of national rock.
The “Juntos por Mingau” event aims to raise funds for the treatment of the musician, who was shot in the head on the eve of his 56th birthday. The crime took place in September in the Ilha das Cobras neighborhood, in Paraty, a city on the Costa Verde of Rio de Janeiro. According to the statement of the friend who was with him at the time, they had withdrawn R$300 to buy a snack when the vehicle was the target of the shots.
After two months in hospital, most of the time in intensive care, Mingau went to a rehabilitation clinic, where the costs are very high. According to his daughter Isabela Aglio, Mingau has already achieved milestones such as “opening his eyes, moving his head, moving his fingers and toes.” The expectation is that rehabilitation in a lighter environment will speed up his recovery.
Much loved in the music scene, Mingau has played an active role in the history of São Paulo rock. Rinaldo Oliveira Amaral, known as Mingau, was an original member of the São Paulo punk movement and guitarist in the classic formation of the group Ratos de Porão, with whom he recorded the compilation SUB in 1983 (together with the groups Cólera, Fogo Cruzado and Psykoze) and the iconic album “Crucificados pelo Sistema”, from 1984. He left Ratos in 1985 to become bassist in the first lineup of the punk band 365, which recorded the album of the same name in 1987. He also played for two other classic São Paulo punk bands, Olho Seco and Innocents, before joining Ultraje a Rigor in 1999.
Tickets for the show in support of Mingau are available on the website and at the theater box office, located in Bourbon Shopping, in the Pompéia neighborhood of São Paulo.
