Belo has revealed the first details of the “Soweto 30 Years” tour, which will take place with the acclaimed 90s group Pagodas. The first performance is scheduled for March 2024, at the Nilton Santos Stadium, Engenhão (RJ). The information was revealed in an interview with columnist Fábia Oliveira.
The singer said that initially there would only be 30 shows spread across Brazil, but the number increased to 34 shows according to negotiations. The group hopes to break an attendance record with entire families in the audience, as samba is a legacy that is passed down from generation to generation.
“We will start in Engenhão in March and then we will travel all over Brazil, to all the capitals of Brazil. We want to break a record, we want to reach a million spectators, from all those people who enjoyed all this in the 90s and now also the children, right? Children, grandchildren and all that. I myself am a boy who has four children and three grandchildren. My granddaughters know Soweto, not only because of their grandfather, but they know it because Ludmilla and the artists of the new generation sing. Exaltasamba, Negritude, Katinguelê, Art Popular, are artists who made an era and made history. So it’s a celebration of life, right? These 30 years [do Soweto] It’s not just me.”
Belo also commented on the thrill of reuniting his old band, with which he became known nationally: “I meet my great friends again to make the music that brought me to the market. It was the group that brought me to took and brought Belo, right? I wouldn’t be Belo if it wasn’t for Soweto. I’m very happy to meet Claudinho, Cris Everton and Dado again, aren’t you?”
Despite the 30-year reunion, Belo explained that two members will be dropped from the project due to their schedules. “They couldn’t reconcile, because they are in the church, they are pastors of the church. They have another religion. But even so, it will be a celebration, a musical celebration, a celebration of life, right? We are coming together and that’s what matters” , he added.
