Shane MacGowanvocalist of The Poguespassed away on November 30th and received tributes from several artists, including Pete Doherty, Nick Cave It is Bruce Springsteen:
“Here on E Street, we are heartbroken by the death of Shane MacGowan”.
“Shane He was one of my favorite writers of all time. […] The passion and profound intensity of his music and lyrics are unmatched by all but the best in the rock and roll canon.”
Additionally, he shared memories of his most recent meeting with the singer in Dublin in May. On that occasion, he surprised MacGowan moments before their performances in the city.
“I was lucky enough to spend a little time with Shane and his lovely wife Victoria the last time we were in Dublin […] He was very sick, but still beautifully present in his heart and spirit.
“His music is timeless and eternal. I don’t know about the rest of us, but they’ll be singing the songs of Shane 100 years from now.”
