On Saturday (2), rock’n’roll icons Kiss concluded their End of the Road tour at the legendary Madison Square Garden in New York. Although the group will reportedly no longer be touring, the band announced after the show that they intend to continue performing, but virtually.

At the end of their final show at MSG, Kiss made a surprising live transition to their new digital avatars, who performed an encore of “God Gave Rock And Roll To You,” marking the group’s farewell in the flesh, but the continuation of Kiss’ journey into a new era.

The band’s transformation into avatars ensures their immortalization, while pushing the boundaries of rock performance, as Kiss have done throughout their career thus far.

This avatar performance will present Kiss as fantasy superheroes and provide a glimpse into just one of the many different ways Kiss will continue as digital artists through their avatars in the future.

“The band will never stop, because the fans own it. Kiss deserves to live, because they are bigger than us,” said singer Paul Stanley.

In collaboration with Swedish company Pophouse Entertainment Group, this end-of-show performance marks the official announcement of plans for a new era of Kiss in the near future – one that will see avatars of the band performing for fans for decades to come.

Kiss’ long history of experimenting with special effects and sets, as well as iconic characters and costumes, will evolve through pioneering technology. Kiss avatars are created by the visual effects company founded by George Lucas (and division of Lucasfilm), Industrial Light & Magic (“Star Wars”, “The Mandalorian”, etc.), demonstrating its unique creative expertise and artistry using its advanced image capture technology.
