Jinyoung reflected on the evolution of the relationship with fellow GOT7 members over the years
Jinyoung opened up about the relationship of the members of the GOT7 in the early years of their career and revealed that they didn’t get along so well. In an interview with Rolling Stone USAthe K-pop group talked about their chemistry as a band and as friends, stating that they took a while to get along after debuting in 2014. (via NME)
“In the beginning, when we debuted, we didn’t get along, we didn’t have that much chemistry,” he said. “So for seven years we fought a lot, and if we ignored our problems we wouldn’t be here now.”
According to Jinyoung, all these disagreements actually helped them understand each other better and become closer. “Because we kept fighting, it was the kind of situation where, at a certain point, everything blended together and was okay,” he revealed.
At the beginning of last year, the GOT7 have parted ways with JYP Entertainment and stated that their time apart focusing on solo projects has had benefits for them working as a group now.
“When performing as a soloist, you should be able to fill in the entire song by yourself and dance on your own,” he explained. Yugyeom. “So our whole singing and dancing ability has probably improved.”
The latest release of GOT7 was the EP with the name of the band, which features the track “NANANA” and marks the K-pop group’s comeback after they split from JYP Entertainment and the seven members signed contracts with different agencies.
