The list of pre-qualified nominees in 10 categories for the 2024 Oscars, announced this Thursday (12/21) by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, pleased pop music fans, with the inclusion of some of the most famous singers of the decade in the dispute for best original song.
Leader in nominations in the category, the film “Barbie” put Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish (who already has an Oscar) fighting for the statuette, respectively for the songs “Dance the Night” and “What Was I Made For?” . Additionally, Olivia Rodrigo performed “Can’t Catch Me Now,” the theme from “The Hunger Games – A Song of Birds and Snakes.”
But the list also includes more alternative artists, such as Sharon Van Etten for “Quiet Eyes”, a song from the soundtrack of “Vidas Passadas”, and Jarvis Cocker (leader of the band Pulp) for “Dear Alien (Who Art in Heaven)” . “, from the movie “Asteroid City”.
The five nominees (finalists) in each category will be announced on January 23. The awards ceremony is scheduled for March 10th.
