Reporter suffers live robbery attempt; see video

The reporter Juliane Massaokafrom the program Meetingexperienced moments of panic this Friday (8) during a live broadcast on the busy Avenida Paulista, in São Paulo. While covering the 132nd anniversary of the iconic São Paulo road, Juliane was the target of an attempted robbery by a man on a bicycle.

The incident occurred shortly after the showing of videos about urban violence and cell phone thefts on large avenues, intensifying the tension of the moment. Showing visible emotional distress, Juliane managed to resist the criminal, holding her cell phone tightly and avoiding the robbery.

“I have my cell phone in my hand to report… You are talking about this, the guy is there with the bicycle and there are police here on the avenue”, reported the reporter, highlighting the atmosphere of danger. The episode not only shook Juliane, but also provoked indignation in Patrícia Poeta, the program’s presenter.

“We hope not to be the next victim. Even when working, people don’t forgive.”expressed Patrícia Poetrevealing his concern for the safety of the reporting team in the face of growing urban violence.

Reason for using a cell phone for transmission

Juliane clarified the reason for holding her cell phone during the transmission: “We reporters need cell phones to listen to you. It is a necessary connection for us to carry out our work. I can’t be without a cell phone on Avenida Paulista”he emphasized.

Despite the scare, Juliane continued with her report on the anniversary of Avenida Paulista, interviewing a local singer. However, Patrícia Poeta’s indignation persisted, reflecting her continued concern for her colleague’s integrity.

“We tried to change the subject, talk about parties, but it’s no use”lamented the presenter when referring to the criminal disguised as a delivery man.

The safety of the reporting team was highlighted by Juliane: “Thank God, the team accompanying us has a wonderful security guard who acted quickly. My cell phone fell on the floor, but now I have it back.”assured the journalist.

Juliane also reflected on the audacity of criminals: “The thief is not afraid of being identified. I have the camera, if we go back to this image maybe his face can be recognized. But the person doesn’t inhibit himself anyway. It is difficult”he lamented, highlighting the audacity of the robbers in the midst of urban insecurity.
