A Taylor Swift fan has died of heat stroke, report says

The medical report of Ana Clara Benevides, a fan who died during Taylor Swift’s first concert, indicated that she had thermal exhaustion caused by the Rio de Janeiro heat. At that moment, the sensation of heat in the city reached more than 59ºC.

According to g1, Ana Clara began to feel ill right at the beginning of the presentation and was rescued, but did not survive. The clinical evolution indicates thermal exhaustion with cardiovascular shock and severe lung damage, which progresses to sudden death.

The 23-year-old’s death was caused by an alveolar hemorrhage, i.e. the rupture of the blood vessels that irrigate the lungs, and paralysis of several organs due to widespread exposure to heat. She had a pulmonary hemorrhage and three cardiopulmonary arrests.

What happened to Ana Clara?

Ana Clara Benevides was from Mato Grosso do Sul and went to Rio mainly to attend Taylor Swift’s first show at the Nilton Santos stadium, Engenhão, where she fell victim to the strong heat wave that hit the city during the tour “The Eras”.

After her death, the family revealed that they faced difficulties in moving the young woman’s body to her hometown. Without the support of the company Time For Fun (TF4), the family members received the help of the singer’s fans, who came together to do a crowdfunding and, in less than 12 hours, raised R$ 30,000 to pay for the Ana’s last trip.
