Production company YG Entertainment released an official statement this Friday (12/29) regarding BLACKPINK’s contract renewal, ensuring that the K-pop group’s recordings will continue. However, members Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rosé have chosen to break away from YG regarding their solo careers.
Now the individual promotion of the singers’ activities will no longer be the responsibility of the producer, passing on to other companies who will hire them later.
“BLACKPINK recently renewed its contract with YG for group activities. However, we have agreed not to pursue further contracts for members’ solo activities. We will give our full support to BLACKPINK and cheer for their individual activities with all the heart,” the company said in the official statement.
The news comes just days after Jennie announced the launch of record label Odd Atelier, which is her independent venture. The singer remained discreet about the details of the project, awaiting YG’s announcement.
