Rage Against the Machine will never play again, says drummer

Drummer Brad Wilk confirmed Wednesday night (1/3) that the band Rage Against the Machine will not return to the stage. The news was shared on the musician’s official Instagram profile.

“I know a lot of people are expecting us to announce new tour dates for all of RATM’s canceled shows. I don’t want to imprison people or myself anymore. So even though there has been some communication that this might happen in the future. .. I want you to know that RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom and I) will no longer be touring or playing live. I feel sorry for those who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish this would happen. .” complained the musician, who was also part of the group Audioslave.

Uncertainty over Rage Against the Machine’s status has been ongoing since October 2022, when the band canceled all performances scheduled for the following year. The reason was an injury suffered by singer Zack De La Rocha to his Achilles tendon, which had already forced the singer to perform sitting down for the rest of the tour.

Recently, guitarist Tom Morello even commented on a possible return of the band: “We’ll see. If there are more shows, we’ll announce it as a band. I don’t know. I know as much as you do, honestly. We’re in a healing moment right now . I’m in the moment of doing music and a lot of other things. If there’s never another show of ours, I think this tour accomplished the mission.”

Also in 2023, the band was one of the nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but only Tom Morello attended the ceremony to accept the award.
