“The Voice Brasil” didn’t just air on Globo. The program was canceled by Globoplay. All seasons produced since 2012 were removed from the platform earlier this year.
Globo did not renew the rights to the reality show, belonging to ITV Studios, due to low ratings and loss of popularity, and the end of the licensing agreement prevents Globo from exploiting the reality show’s images. Despite this, the image that identifies the reality category in the Globoplay catalog remains a photo from the last season of “The Voice Brasil”.
In total, Globo produced 22 editions of “The Voice”, also including “The Voice Kids” and “The Voice+”, aimed respectively at children and elderly contestants, both of which were cancelled.
The cancellation of the main program was not a surprise, as the program obtained only two sponsors for its final season, a standard below expectations for Globo. Even worse was “The Voice Kids,” with only one sponsor.
Instead of the imported format, Globo will bet on its own creation, the new musical reality show “Estrelas da Casa”, which will mix musical competition and imprisonment. The first is scheduled for the second semester.
