OR Apocalyptic announced that he will return to Brazil to perform five shows this month. The tour starts on the 16th, in Porto Alegre. Curitiba, Sao Paulo, Brasilia and Rio de Janeiro will also host the group.
The group is made up of musicians who declare themselves true musical explorers, always looking for unexplored territories in which to express themselves musically. With Cello-0, the band’s ninth studio album, the ambitious quartet has not only returned to its roots, i.e. no longer having the assistance of a singer, but has also traveled deeper to farther places in the universe of instrumental music. That first passion that drove Apocalyptica to form in 1993 in Helsinki, Finland now brings with it richer layers of knowledge and experience, bringing the band to a foundational realization on a new creative path.
With all this new inspiration, the band lands on Brazilian soil for five shows that, for the members, Eicca Toppinen, Perttu Kivilaakso, Paavo Lötjönen AND Mikko Siren it will be unforgettable. The São Paulo show, scheduled in the traditional concert hall of the Carioca Club, on January 19th is one of the most anticipated moments of the tour for Eicca Toppinen, as it marks the band’s return to the city after a successful performance in the first edition of the festival German in Brazil, Summer Breeze, which took place in 2023.
“Apocalyptica’s performances have been a real feast for fans who love the mix between symphony and heavy metal, and our latest album ‘Cell-0’ proves that we are at a unique level in our career as musicians. We want to put on a show complete for our fans, this time with the songs from this new album”Eicca commented.
The band worked with the famous producer and engineer Andrea Schepswho has collaborated with bands like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Lana Del Rey, Metallica AND Black Saturday, among many others. The producer mixed the album at Monnow Valley Studios in South Wales, UK, and the band couldn’t be happier with the result.
“We have long admired Andrew’s work and he brought essential clarity to the mix”says Perttu. “Mixing cellos creates more problems than any other instrument with any other band. We all play the same instrument, at the same level and this time, with Andrew, we found a perfect balance and clarity between all of us. This left us more than thrilled to try these songs live.”, finished.
The repertoire includes not only the classics, but also the hits of world-famous bands such as Metallica, which launched the quartet to stardom.
