Mingau, bassist of the group Ultraje a Rigor, was discharged on Monday (8/1) to begin a new phase of rehabilitation. The artist was shot in the head in September 2023, in the Paraty region of Rio de Janeiro.
The information was revealed by the family on Mingau’s official Instagram profile. “He is now entering a new phase of rehabilitation. As soon as the results appear we will update friends and fans”, wrote his family, grateful for the support and affection received in recent months.
What happened
The bassist was shot in the head when his car was surrounded by criminals, who fired several shots. A bullet passed through his skull and he had to undergo two surgeries, leaving him with the consequences.
Mingau’s daughter celebrates each stage of her recovery on social media. In November she was able to move a finger. On the day that marked three months since the accident, she posted a video of him kissing her cheek: “Thank you, my lord! Exactly three months ago, I experienced the worst day of my entire life and, today, I receive the best gift of all.”
The family launched a fundraising campaign to help him with his treatment and he recently received a wheelchair. However, he will need another surgery in 2024.
