Justin Timberlake has released the first single and video of his return to music. “Selfish” is an old-fashioned R&B ballad—that is, in the style of the singer’s traditional recordings—in which he defends jealousy as a sign of passion. The clip, directed by Bradley J. Calder (SZA collaborator), is basically a behind-the-scenes video, with recording errors, studio scenes and the revelation of the tricks behind the most imaginative images.
“Selfish” is the first taste of the singer’s upcoming album, “Everything I Thought It Was,” Timberlake’s first album in six years — since 2018’s “Man of the Woods.” Focused on his acting work, he’s only come to sing in film roles, such as in the films of the animated series “Trolls”.
The album in which the former ‘N Sync member resumes his musical career will be released on March 15.
