The Captain America storyline that Anthony and Joe Russo still have with the writers of Avengers: Endgame

have seen Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Captain America civil war, Avengers: Infinity WarYes ending of the Avengers, it’s more than obvious that directors Joe and Anthony Russo and screenwriters Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely work well together. Their creative sensibilities clearly marry well and this has allowed them to successfully complete some complicated projects. However, there is one remarkable thing that I still disagree on, and it is Steve Rogers’ time travel at the end of his latest Marvel movie.

Following the launch of ending of the Avengers In 2019, the two pairs of directors conducted press interviews about their views on Captain America’s actions in the blockbuster’s final scenes, and fans were shocked to learn they weren’t sure. It’s been three years and the men have since collaborated on Netflix’s upcoming thriller. the gray man… but apparently they have not yet come to an agreement on who is right on the subject of time travel.

Yesterday afternoon I went to AGBO downtown Los Angeles office to interview Joe and Anthony Russo the gray man, and while discussing his work with Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, I asked if there had been a change in their Captain America-centered disagreement. Laughing, Anthony Russo said they only drifted apart when it came to their separate findings, saying:

We’ve both become even more grounded in our positions on the subject, to be honest with you.

Fans will remember ending of the Avengers ends with Captain America traveling back in time to return all the Infinity Stones and live a full life with Peggy Carter, but the point of contention between the Russos and the writers is on the timeline in which Steve Rogers spent his time. .

In the version of Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely ending of the AvengersEventually, Captain America travels back in time to the pre-existing timeline and lives his life with Peggy while her past coexists and remains frozen at the North Pole (until she wakes up to fight the Avengers). The authors even approved of the idea that Steve was present at Peggy Carter’s funeral, as seen in Captain America civil war.

Joe and Anthony Russo have a different take on Captain America’s time travel. They argue that his journey into the past inherently creates an alternate-derived reality that is separate from the canon of the Marvel Cinematic Universe depicted in all the films and that he had to travel along the timelines to the MCU to give him his shield. Sam Wilson.

The Russo brothers stick to this argument, even though he receives a defiant response from their frequent aides. Joe Russo continued,

It really was [Christopher] Markus, convinced that it was impossible. And we say, ‘No, it’s not impossible.’ Any future narrator could come in and update, whatever he wants in the narrative, that Cap should go to a different timeline and come back from there. We didn’t want to spoil the story for other people, but now we have. Here you are

With Loki making all sorts of changes to our perception of timelines in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and Doctor Strange meddling with alternate dimensions in Doctor Strange in the multiverse of madnessall the talk about Canon right now is pretty crazy, not to mention the simple question of what happened to Captain America at the end of ending of the Avengers. We’ll have to wait and see where all of this ends up as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige continues to execute his grand council plan.
