Madonna recalled the moment during a performance at Madison Square Garden, in New York, United States, on the night of Wednesday 31st. “People don’t understand that it’s a miracle that I’m here now”she said, excited.
“This is always an emotional moment for me on the show. Last summer I got really sick, it was one of those crazy things that only happens to 4% of the population, but obviously it would happen to me,” Madonna began. dedicating a song to nurse Marie Carrero.
During her hospitalization, Madonna remained in a medically induced coma for 48 hours. “I didn’t know if I would survive,” the singer said. He also speaks directly to Marie, who was in the audience.
“There is a very special woman here tonight. Hers is Marie. Marie Carrero. She came home with me from the intensive care unit and took care of me like she was my mother. And, Marie, I’ve been waiting that I would come so I could sing for you. I asked her to leave [do quarto] and she gave me a button to push and I pushed it all night. She slept in a room next to mine. She helped me go to the bathroom when I couldn’t walk,” she said.
“She would sit next to me on the bed and I would hold her hand: ‘Marie, Marie, will I make it? Marie, Marie, how long will this last? Marie, I will recover.’ ? Marie, is it normal that you can’t move me? It’s normal? Is it normal for my legs to be the size of an elephant? Marie, help me!'” the singer recalled.
