The Jamaican bassist died last Saturday, 3, at the age of 77. Aston Barrett, better known as “Familyman”. The news was given by his son, Aston Barrett Jr., who will play the bassist in the Bob Marley biopic: “Your legacy will live forever in our hearts and in the music you left us. We love you and will miss you deeply,” he says in the Instagram post in which he announced his father’s death. Aston was one of the biggest names in reggae.
Aston suffered a “major medical battle”, according to his son, who thanked him on social media: “We extend our immense gratitude to everyone who has undertaken this journey with us. Your love, support, words of affection are Be strong in this difficult moment. Let’s remember that Family man for the legend he was and the incredible memories he gave us.
