The “Should’ve Been a Cowboy” singer had been suffering from stomach cancer since 2022
American country music star who sang I should have been a cowboy, Toby Keith died at the age of 62 this Monday 5. The artist was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2022. The news was spread on the singer’s Instagram.
“Toby Keith passed away peacefully last night, February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought with grace and courage. Please respect his family’s privacy at this time,” the statement read.
Keith has been active in music for over 30 years and released his first album in 1993. In his career he has released 24 studio albums, being one of the most prestigious names in American country.
The singer entered the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart with 61 singles. I should have been a cowboy, I want to talk about myself AND Beer For My Horses were some of his greatest hits.
Even after being diagnosed with stomach cancer, the singer continued to perform. In September last year he performed at Awards chosen by the people.
