The new biopic of Bob Marley, Bob Marley: One Loveportrays a curious connection between the musician and Osvaldo “Ossie” Ardilesa player who was part of the Argentine national team when they won the 1978 World Cup.

The athlete played for many years at Tottenham Hotspur, a club in the English capital, when Bob Marley lived in London. He especially admired Ardiles, who attended the premiere of the feature film in England, where he still lives. The former player commented on social media:

I went to see the premiere of the film about Bob Marley. Simply excellent. Very fitting for a supreme artist and a wonderful human being. He’s not a bad football player, just as football is the link between him, THFC and me. He spent a lot of time in London in the 80s…

2/… where he played football practically every day with his band and friends. He came to support Tottenham and said in the press that I was his favorite player. A very special tribute. Rest in peace, Bob. His music will stay with us forever.

Congratulations to everyone involved. A brilliant film about a wonderful man who made inspiring music. @bobmarley was one of the greatest. And apparently he liked me too 😁 They tell me he was an excellent football player — I would have loved to have played with him. For Tottenham, of course 😉
Congratulations again
