Ozzy Osbourne wasn’t happy to discover that Kanye West used a sample of Black Sabbath classic “War Pigs” without permission on his new album, “Vultures,” out Thursday (8/2).
In a post shared on Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) this Friday (9/2), the singer wrote in bold letters:
“Kayne West (sic) requested permission to sample an excerpt from the 1983 live performance of ‘War Pig’ (sic) at the US Festival without vocals and was refused permission because it is anti-Semitic and has caused untold suffering to many. Last night he went and used the sample anyway at his album listening party. I want no association with this man!”
The title track of “Vultures” also includes the lyrics: “How anti-Semitic am I? I just fucked a Jewish bitch.”
This isn’t the first time West has used Black Sabbath in a song. He interpolated the band’s classic “Iron Man” into his 2010 song “Hell of a Life,” included on the Grammy-winning album “My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy.”
So far Kanye has not commented on Ozzy’s criticism.
