Rumor started circulating right when the singer started to become famous — and she had to deal with the matter in front of journalists
When she started to become a great pop singer, in the second half of the 2000s, Lady Gaga was the subject of a rumor a little different from those we usually hear about other celebrities. A video and a false statement published on the web indicated that the artist was a hermaphrodite.
If it were, there wouldn’t be any problem. However, obviously, it was just a rumor. And even though they were aware that there was a high chance that this story was not true, several journalists and presenters asked questions to Gaga about the subject.

– Lady Gaga: I’m not even going to answer that question.
– Journalist 2: This strange rumor that you were half man, half woman. Have you heard this rumor?
– Lady Gaga: (Laughs) Yes.
– Journalist 2: And is it true?
– Lady Gaga: No.
– Journalist 3: Do you have a penis or not?
– Lady Gaga: You know… my beautiful vagina is very offended by this question.
– Journalist 3: Really? So you have a vagina?
The collection of footage even features Gaga’s response to a sexist question about her look. The dialogue took place as follows:
– Lady Gaga: (In likely response to another question) I think I look pretty. Don’t you think I look pretty?
– Journalist 4: Yes, but it’s a little sexy.
– Lady Gaga:Sexy?
– Journalist 4: Maybe provocative.
– Lady Gaga: I don’t think it’s provocative. I think I look pretty.
Another situation
The famous interview with Lady Gaga The Anderson Cooper, in 2011, was left out of the compilation. In it, the artist responds again to rumors that she has a “male appendage” and that she is a “hermaphrodite”.
“Maybe it’s true. Would it be so terrible? Why the hell am I going to waste my time and give a press release about whether or not I have a penis? My fans don’t care and neither do I.”
Lady Gaga liked the rumors
Although in the video she appears to be uncomfortable with questions about the rumor that she is a hermaphrodite, Lady Gaga, in fact, didn’t care about the story. In fact, he even liked the rumor.
A well-known defender of the LGBTQIAPN+ cause, the singer said in an interview with a French TV station (via Popline) that the situation further increased his admiration for his fans. The reason is that they don’t care about any sexual issues involving the artist
“This makes me love my fans even more! 17 thousand fans come to see me every night and they don’t care if I’m a man, a woman, a hermaphrodite, gay, heterosexual or transsexual. They don’t care! They are there for the music and the freedom.”
Above the records sold and the sold-out shows, Gaga states that she believes that one of the greatest achievements of her career is giving a voice to young women and members of the LGBTQIAPN+ community.
“This is one of the best achievements of my career: allowing young people to express what society has said is wrong. Gay culture is at the core of who I am, and I will fight for women and the gay community until I die.”
