Linkin Park’s iconic vocalist and frontman, Chester Bennington, died in 2017, about two months after the band released the album One More Light
One of the main rock bands of the 2000s, LinkinPark announced new song, titled “Friendly Fire,” with vocals by Chester Benningtonlead singer of the American group who died on July 20, 2017.
In a post made on social media, the band revealed an excerpt of the song in question, very inspired by synthpop. “Friendly Fire” appeared in one of the recordings for their last studio album, titled One More Light (2017).
“We’re falling apart for no reason / We’re pulling the trigger on a pointless war / If we turn around and go into the black / What are we fighting for? / What are we fighting for? / It’s just friendly fire,” reads part of the track made available on social media .
As of now, there is no set release date for “Friendly Fire.” It is worth remembering how Mike Shinoda spoke about the song’s existence in 2020 (via AltPress). “We mix more [músicas] than what’s on the finished album and we mixed some other tracks just to see if one of them would make the final cut or something,” he said. “[Ou] if we could use it as a B-side and it was ‘Friendly Fire.'”
