Trailer | Paulo Miklos plays Adoniran Barbosa in “Saudosa Maloca”

Elo Studios has released the poster and trailer for “Saudosa Maloca”, a film inspired by the work of Adoniran Barbosa, which stars Paulo Miklos in the role of the legendary composer of hits such as “Trem das Onze”, “Samba do Arnesto” and samba does the title.

The plot begins at a bar table, where the old Adoniran tells a young waiter stories of São Paulo from the 1950s, which no longer exists. He fondly remembers the maloca where he lived with Joca and Mato Grosso, their passion for Iracema (samba also became famous) and the other characters immortalized in his songs – including the famous visit to Arnesto.

By favoring slow pieces and songs over the facts of Adoniran’s life, the film aims to pay homage to the work of one of São Paulo’s greatest samba singers and also a reflection on important social issues in big cities.

Cast and production

In addition to the musician Titãs, the cast includes Gero Camilo and Gustavo Machado as Matogrosso and Joca. Interestingly, Miklos and Camilo worked together, as a duo, in the recent series “Manhãs de Setembro”. Leilah Moreno plays Iracema, and the cast also includes Sidney Santiago Kuanza, Paulo Tiefenthaler, Carlos Gimenez, Izak Dahora, Zemanuel Piñero, Ney Piacentini and Noemi Marinho.

The direction is by Pedro Serrano, who in 2018 published a documentary on the composer, entitled “Adoniran: My name is João Rubinato”, and before that, in 2015, directed Paulo Miklos in the role of Adoniran in a short (“Dá Licença de Contar”) which served as the basis for the current film.

The premiere is scheduled for March 21st.
