A Brazilian woman is accused of stalking after sending 8,000 letters to Harry Styles

Myra was arrested in London after sending handwritten and online letters to the British singer

Brazilian Myra Carvalho, 35, is facing legal action for stalking singer Harry Styles after sending him 8,000 letters in a month. She was taken into custody at the end of January by British police.

The letters were handwritten and also sent online. Two of the letters were hand-delivered to the artist’s home in England, and thousands more were sent to his address. According to the prosecution, some of the cards were wedding invitations.

Myra has a partner in Brazil and has been staying in a hostel in Earl Court, London since December. The newspaper The independent reported that the woman’s family did not know she was traveling.

She was arrested at the end of January on charges of harassment, aka stalking. The situation would have caused serious alarm or distress to the singer. According to the newspaper Daily emailMyra’s actions led Harry to change some daily activities.

The Brazilian participated in a hearing this Tuesday 20th via video call from the HMP Bronzefield women’s prison, where she is being held. Her parents were in court for the session and were emotional.

The lawyer representing Myra, Clementine Simon, said her client was suffering from a “manic episode” and questioned whether Mayra would be able to respond to the case in court.

The Brazilian spoke only to confirm her name, and did not make any appeal. Judge Karim Ezzat sent the case back to the same court on April 19.
