The artist’s son’s defense claims that Wilma Petrillo has no rights to his mother’s assets
Gabriele da Costa Penna Burgosson of Gal Costadecided to leave the house where he lived with the singer’s widow, Wilma Petrillo, in Jardim Europa, in the West Zone of São Paulo, in the midst of the dispute over his mother’s inheritance. The information was confirmed to the newspaper by his lawyer, Luci Viera Nunes Newspaper.
According to the lawyer, Gal had written a will before adopting her son, stipulating that her entire inheritance would go to the Gal Costa Foundation. Gabriel’s defense claims that Wilma had signed this will as a witness and she knew that she would not be included as her heir.
Last Sunday, the 18th, an alleged audio of an argument between Gal’s son and Wilma Petrillo circulated on social media. In it, Gabriel refused to sign a statement in which he acknowledged debts to the record company Biscoito Fino. The record company owner had given royalty advances on performing rights, one of them while Gal was still alive.
“Damn, Gabriel, damn. Why don’t you sign? Why are you calling the shots now? You’re just doing some bullshit,” the widow allegedly said in the recording, after punching the table. “If you don’t sign we will have no money and we will starve, because I don’t have a penny left.”
Recently, Gabriele he decided to go to court claim your inheritance rights and defend what he says is his mother’s will. Gal died in November 2022.
The boy recently turned 18 and hired, in January this year, two lawyers to represent him, Luci and Mariana de Athayde Ferreira. Through them, he said he was taking advantage of his age to “act according to conscience, free from influence.”
The young man questions the fraction of the singer’s estate claimed by Wilma. He asks the court to recognize a stable union with the singer, which lasted 24 years. If granted, Wilma will be entitled to 50% of her inheritance, as well as being able to manage the artistic assets together with Gabriel.
According to columnist Mônica Bergamo, Gabriel’s defense claims that Wilma only acted as the singer’s manager and godmother of the boy, and that the sharing of assets and care of the assets must be discussed. At the time of the singer’s death, the boy was placed under the temporary custody of his widow.
