American band and Canadian singer Jessie Reyes will replace Jaden Smith, Rina Sawayama and Dove Cameron, who canceled shows for “personal reasons”
Lollapalooza has announced the addition of Greta Van Fleet and Jessie Reyes to the lineup after three attractions canceled their appearances at this year’s festival.
The artists who withdrew from participation were singers Jaden Smith (son of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith), Rina Sawayama and Dove Cameron for “personal reasons”. They would perform on March 22, 23 and 24 respectively.
The festival featured performances by Jessie Reyes on March 23 (Saturday) and Greta Van Fleet on March 24 (Sunday). The third vacant date continues with no replacement attraction confirmed for the event.
About new attractions
Greta Van Fleet is made up of three brothers and a childhood friend. The American band became known for playing hard rock and blues classics, in the style of Led Zeppelin, with hits such as “Highway Tune” and “When The Curtain Falls”. They have already performed at the Sao Paulo festival in 2019.
Jessie Reyes is a Canadian R&B singer, best remembered as a composer of hits for artists such as Calvin Harris, Dua Lipa, Normani, Kehlani and even Eminem. Her biggest solo hit is the song “Figures”.
Everything goes wrong?
In January of this year, Paramore also canceled their performance at Lollapaloosa due to “personal reasons.” The band was considered one of the main attractions of the festival.
The event’s artistic curator, Marcelo Beraldo, said cancellations are a typical phenomenon at festivals around the world. Furthermore, global director Leca Guimarães said that there is no “termination clause” in artists’ contracts and, therefore, artists have to “run around looking for an available attraction” to replace, when this happens.
Lollapalooza will take place on March 22, 23 and 24 at the Autódromo de Interlagos, in Sao Paulo.
