The funk singer revealed that the song “I Wanna Be”, which would have been part of the album “Funk Generation”, was canceled due to the singer’s own decision
Anitta has confirmed that her collaboration with Sam Smith has been officially cancelled. The song, which will be part of the album “Funk Generation”, was considered one of the promises of Carnival 2024. The singer explained that the cancellation affected the strategy of the project, which needed to be rethought and suffered a delayed release.
The topic emerged on Wednesday (28/2) after Cosmopolitan UK published an interview with Anitta, in which she confirms the release of the song “I Wanna Be”, made with Sam Smith. Fans celebrated the news, but the artist was quick to clarify in a fan post that the song will not be available due to the singer’s decision: “This interview was given last month. He canceled the release.”
Then, Anitta said that the album suffered from the song’s cancellation and, as a result, it might not be released in March this year. “We had to reschedule the album release plan and as soon as we have the date you will know. It won’t be too late, everything else is already ready”, concluded the singer.
It’s still unclear why “I Wanna Be” was cancelled.
