From Inside Out to Baby Driver, check out Flea’s most unusual performances
Flea is deeply known as the craziest bass player in the world. Red Hot Chili Peppers, but he is also an actor and has worked in great films in cinema. His resume includes 45 titles. Among them are the new series of Star Wars at Disney +, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Back to the Future (1985).
The musician seems to enjoy being on screen and has recently expressed an interest in being Popeye in a possible live-action of the character in theaters. With that in mind, here’s a list of the bassist’s most unusual appearances.
Inside Out (2015)
the scenario of Inside Out happens almost entirely inside the head of Riley Andersen, a 12-year-old girl who has to deal with puberty issues. The five emotions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger and Disgust are responsible for driving her life.
Flea appears in the film taking on the role of voice actor for one of the “policemen” responsible for maintaining order in the mind of Riley. His participation is small, but for those who are a fan you can recognize the bassist’s voice.
Baby Driver (2017)
In Baby Driver, Flea plays the role of Eddie. The film tells the story of Baby (Ansel Elgort)a young man who works as a getaway pilot for a gang and gets into trouble when everything goes wrong. Flea appears in much of the film’s promotional trailer. Check it out below.
Obi-Wan Kenobi (2022)
Flea appeared by surprise in the series Obi-Wan Kenobigives Disney+. Despite recent rumors about his participation, the musician kept his role as a surprise until the series premiere in May. And it’s not just any role, but an important agent in the plot of the first two episodes. Flea plays a bounty hunter hired by Third Sister/Inquisitor Reva to kidnap the young princess Read Skywalkerstill in Alderaan.
The Thornberrys – The Movie (2002)
The film the Thornberrys originates from the TV series and shows a very exotic family that travels the world documenting wildlife. Besides, everything is more fun because the couple’s youngest daughter, Eliza, gains the ability to speak with animals after saving a wild boar. The series has a specific and a little crazy character. His name is Donnie Thornberry. Check out the excerpt dubbed by Flea:
Is Popeye coming?
Flea posted on Twitter that he is interested in playing the role of Popeye in a possible live-action in theaters.
“If a good director decides to make a film PopeyeI’m the man”, said the musician.
There are still no rumors of productions about the character’s live action movie, but by the responses to the tweet from Flea, it seems that people would like the idea. Meanwhile, the Red Hot Chili Peppers is in the middle of his world tour for his latest record Unlimited Love (2022)the first to feature guitarist John Frusciante after your return.
