With the Sun becoming 2.5% more luminous, only 8% of the planet will remain habitable, a drastic reduction from the current 66%. Food shortages will be an imminent challenge as many edible plant species will be decimated.
Despite the gloomy scenario, history teaches us that life has an incredible ability to adapt. Some species will survive and may become dominant, as occurred in the past with reptiles and, more recently, with mammals. If humanity faces this dark future, it will have to adapt to hostile environments, becoming more specialized in surviving in deserts and exploring new ways to ensure its survival.
This study serves as a stark warning that our actions today shape the future of the planet. O global warming it is a real and imminent threat, and it is imperative that we take meaningful action to curb climate change. Otherwise, we will be condemning future generations to a world of extreme heat, radiation and scarcity, a scenario that none of us want to bequeath. It is time to act urgently and responsibly to prevent this nightmare from becoming our reality.
