The singer found success in the 1980s with the hits “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “True Colors”
Rock in Rio has announced that Cyndi Lauper, who had success in the 1980s with the hits “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” and “True Colors”, will perform at the festival on September 20, Delas Day. The chosen date will have a scheduled composed exclusively of women and will also star Katy Perry.
At her peak, Cyndi Lauper was often compared to Madonna, with whom she rivaled in popularity. However, over time the two became very distant. While Madonna had a successful career and became known as the Queen of Pop, Cyndi disappeared from the media. Her latest album, “Detour”, is from 2016, while the previous one was released in 2010.
The announcement follows the revelation that Mariah Carey will headline the Sunset stage on September 22.
Besides them, performances by Grammy-winning South African singer and songwriter Tyla and DJ Alison Wonderland, an electronic music artist, were also announced.
