Formed by Dexter Holland, Noodles, Todd Morse and Brandon Pertzborn, The Offspring celebrates 40 years of punk rock career in 2024
With a 40-year career, The Offspring established itself as one of the greatest bands in the history of punk rock, and released hits such as “The Kids Aren’t Alright,” “You’re Gonna Go Far, Kid,” “Self Esteem” It is “Pretty Fly (For A White Guy).” Once again, Dexter Holland, noodles, Todd Morse It is Brandon Pertzborn bring all their experience to Brazil for a show on the first day of Lollapalooza2024which starts next Friday, the 22nd.
During an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil, noodles commented on expectations for the presentation in question, scheduled for 7:05 pm (Brasília time), at Budweiser Stage. According to the guitarist, the show will be “explosive.”
“It’s a festival show, we’ll do some deep cuts, but we’ll focus a lot on some of the most popular songs, the biggest hits,” he said. “It will be a blast! The festival situation is always fun. And I think that even in Brazil it is even more so.”
The artist took the opportunity to praise Brazilian fans, described as the most passionate and energetic you will find anywhere in the world, and explained how the band itself “feeds off this energy” when they are on stage.
Sometimes if you get a little too close it can be a little scary. We are looking forward to putting on a great show there.
It’s worth remembering how the show at Lollapalooza Brazil takes place approximately three years after the launch of Let the Bad Times Roll (2021), third studio album by Offspring. Including, noodles revealed how the band is already working on its predecessor, which won’t take long to be released. It is worth remembering how Days Go Bypredecessor of LTBTRwas released in 2012.
“When we were letting the bad times roll, a lot of the things we worked on in the beginning fell away. We’re not done. And I don’t really know why,” she explained. “We traveled a lot over the years.” Furthermore, during this hiatus from the group, Dexter Holland returned to college and completed a doctorate in molecular biology.
And the songs we felt were better than what we were writing, so that’s why a lot of the earlier stuff disappeared and we’ve felt like we’ve been pretty productive ever since. That’s why I don’t think this record will take that long.
The next album from Offspringstill without a defined title, is almost ready and should be released in 2024. In fact, one of the songs talks about Brazil, as Holland said in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil in 2022. Asked before the Lolla, noodles was quite excited about the track.
“It’s a lot of fun. I hope Brazilian fans like it, I think they will. It’s kind of heavy,” she stated. “There’s a lot going on. I don’t really want to reveal too much until the song is released. But I wasn’t sure if we ever said anything about that. I think the word has already spread. Dexter has already got the cat off his back. This song is already ready and recorded.”
