Before building a friendship with Katy Perry, Dua Lipa was already a big fan of the hitmaker ‘Firework’ and even danced alongside her as a teenager.
Dua Lipa opened up about his friendship with Katy Perry, of whom she grew up being a big fan. “I love Katy! We are friends. I think she’s amazing,” he said. Lipa in an interview with Rolling Stone USA (via People).
The singer attended a concert Perry at the age of 15 and even took to the stage, after the owner of the hit “Firework” invited fans to dance alongside her during the performance of “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” — a song known for the voice of Whitney Houston.
“It was the tour California Dreams of her, and she was taking fans on stage, and I jumped on stage and danced,” he said. Lipa. “There’s this embarrassing picture of me online, but I love it.”
Years later, the opposite happened: Katy went to a presentation Dua: “It was a full circle moment for me when she came to my show at the Palladium, because when I was 15 I went to see her at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.”
Today, the two pop stars are good friends, and Perry gave the seal of approval to Lipa. “Having the blessing of someone like her, someone I’ve always admired, is very encouraging,” added the actress from Barbie.
