MC Marcinho is honored in a special music video by MC Bob Rum

The music video featured the special participation of the artist’s mother, Dona Fátima, who received 100% of the song’s royalties.

MC Bob Rum, known for “Rap do Silva”, paid tribute to his friend MC Marcinho (1977-2023) in the special clip for “Mensageiro do Amor”, which featured the singer’s mother, Dona Fátima. The funk singer died in August last year due to heart complications.

In the lyrics, Bob Rum references Marcinho’s hit songs and mentions his nickname, “Prince of Funk”. The song is also emotional when it tells of the artist’s arrival in heaven, welcomed by God and the angels. “Gather therefore all the love that you once spread and intercede for us from above”, says a passage of the song.

In an interview with Gshow, the funk singer said that Marcinho was worried about his mother’s health and, therefore, invited her to participate in the special music video. “In the last conversations I had with Márcio, he talked a lot about his concern for his mother in case of his departure, I had it in my head after he left, and I always heard a voice in my head saying that a prince placed is next to the King. Then the idea of the song was born and to record the video with Dona Fátima”, said Bob Rum.

Goodbye to MC Marcinho

Funk pioneer MC Marcinho died in August 2023, at Copa d’Or hospital, Rio de Janeiro. The 45-year-old singer had been hospitalized since the end of June after experiencing severe chest pain. The case worsened in July, when he suffered cardiac arrest and was intubated.

MC Bob Rum said they planned to celebrate their 30-year career together. He also stated that Marcinho strongly believed in his own care and said that he would play again with his friend.

“Despite the worry he had for his mother, for what would happen to her if he left, he never gave up. He believed with all his strength that he would get better. He had already escaped so much, that his nickname was Braveheart,” recalled Bob, who signed over 100% of the royalties to the matriarch.

“We wanted to do a [projeto] special, but it got worse, he asked to let it get better so he could plan in detail what it would be like, but there was no time. Making the song and the video is a way for him to be here with me in this moment,” the funk singer lamented.
