With Lusco-Fusco, the singer from Bahia opens a new chapter in her career and uses her voice for her own repertoire that encompasses musicalities
“I wanted to bring twilight first because I understand the beauty of this word that names two very beautiful moments, the dawn and the dusk of the day. “It was a difficult process, I returned to Bahia and decided to start over”, he says. “This is the place I had to leave. I didn’t know if I would be able to do a show, insecurities were affecting me”, she recalls, twice nominated for the Latin Grammy. His album translates as a multiple work that ranges between samba, rock, blues, baião, arrocha, pop and electronic and fluctuates between themes such as affectivity and politics.
“I learned to deposit a piece of myself. I’m a very romantic singer; and a trans singer can be very romantic. Of course, it has the phase of screaming, of understanding who we are. The trans population still struggles for employability, it has not yet surpassed a life expectancy of 35 years”, she comments on her artivist existence in the world, one of the themes and mottos of the previous band, a manifesto that remains in her artistic life and returns permeated with unique nuances and sensations.
This same cry is also artistically explained in his vocal and narrative choices (building, from experiences such as the discovery of love-courtship, a unique imaginary for relationships sung in verse). Known for her vocal power, here Assucena also explores new ambiences – at times whisper and mystery (she goes against Céu), at others as a full voice-musical instrument (hugs Gal Costa).
