ABMI – Brazilian Association of Independent Music renews the Board of Directors


The ABMI plays the role of integrating the Brazilian market into the world music market and of political articulator of the cultural sector

ABMI – Brazilian Association of Independent Music had the election of the Board of Directors. “Chapa Renovação” has been elected and will take over the Board of Directors of ABMI – Associação Brasileira de Música Independente for the next 3 years. ABMI operates in the Brazilian and international market, collaborating with other organizations in the music industry with the main objective of integrating the Brazilian market into the global recorded music market. ABMI has a permanent headquarters at WIN – Worldwide Independent Network – global association of independent record labels and associations, with more than 800 members worldwide. In addition to WIN, ABMI actively participates in MERLIN, which has emerged as the most important articulator of the music business in digital environments around the world. The ABMI has also been an important political organizer in the cultural sector, having led the movement for tax immunity for Brazilian music through PEC 123/2011, better known as the PEC of Music. ABMI works to reduce the digital inclusion deficit of its representatives and to create the necessary structure to collect and manage new webcasting rights, videocasting and dubbing licenses for national record companies and artists. The benefits of the collective management of the ABMI will initially be perceived by the members and subsequently extended to the entire sector, thus contributing to its organisation, consolidation and commercial strengthening.
