In 2022, after a tour promoting the album Bon Jovi 2020, Jon underwent serious surgery on his vocal cords. The performances of the aforementioned tour were not good and the singer realized that he needed medical help — something that, fortunately, he obtained.

During the recovery period after the medical procedure, none other than Springsteen kept him company. In an interview with Ultimate Classic Rockthe singer of “Livin‘on a Prayer” It is “Always” remembered:

bruce He came to pick me up every two weeks. We would go on these 100-mile trips during the post-surgery period where I could barely speak. There was just that vow of, ‘I’m here for you, man.’”

100-mile trips aren’t exactly short. Even so, there wasn’t even time for the conversation to get boring or turn into serious topics. The two chatted pleasantly and had fun — even when they realized they were two rock stars in the same car.

“You have Jon Bon Jovi It is Bruce Springsteen driving through New Jersey. You want the state police to stop you. One day we were at a traffic light and someone was passing a bucket around asking for coins. Era of VFW (NGO that supports war veterans). I rolled down the window and as I had some money in my pocket, I put it out. The guy saw me and said: ‘hey!’. Then he leaned over, looked out the window, saw Bruce and said: ‘oh!’ [risos]. And then all the guys from VFW came to us.”

“I don’t know if there will be a tour. It is my desire to have one next year, but I am still recovering from major surgery. Even though I’m on the road to recovery, and I was able to take my time and do one song a day when I made the record, my need or desire is to be able to do two and a half hours one night, four nights a week, for months on end. I am working towards that goal.”
