The second album in a trilogy contains boozy love songs from 1970s soul and folk
Singer Silvia Machete launches on all digital platforms Invisible woman (Biscoito Fino), the second album of a trilogy that began with praise Rhonda in 2020.
“Rhonda is a fictional character, who sings these songs that I composed with Alberto Continentino in English, which enter into this soul- and folk-drunk universe of the ’70s. Invisible woman, returns with new love songs and a little more cheerful,” says Silvia. “We continue to talk about love, but this album is less dense, sonically. It’s still romantic, but a little more pop.” Love continues to mark her work, in Invisible Woman there is also a tribute to her dog with “Salome”.
The two works represent a new phase for Machete, who is also an actress, a phase in which she plays the role of Rhonda, glamorous and cosmopolitan – she recently performed in Paris and New York, the city where she previously lived. And this Friday she will perform in Belo Horizonte, the city where she was born but she has never lived.
The album’s repertoire is almost entirely original, always composed in English by her and Alberto Continentino, musician, composer and partner of the singer in all the songs, except “Two Kites” by Tom Jobim, whose voice is in duet with Maria Luiza Jobim. Other collaborations are with Emerson Villani and the American Nick Jones. Continentino co-signed six of the 11 songs with the artist, as well as arranging and producing the album with Lalo Brusco.
The show RHONDA – INVISIBLE WOMAN debuts in Belo Horizonte, on April 26, at the SESIMINAS Theater, and continues on tour in the main capitals. Tickets on sale:
