Pet Shop Boys co-founder says Taylor Swift doesn’t have any success like Michael Jackson’s ‘Billie Jean’
Neil Tennantco-founder of Pet Shop Boysrecognized the popularity of Taylor Swiftbut admitted that he doesn’t know what his successes are.
“She fascinates me as some kind of phenomenon because she’s so popular,” he said (via DailyMail). However, Tennant argued that the singer doesn’t have a song like “Billie Jean”, by Michael Jackson: “I kind of like the whole thing, but then I think, ‘Where are the famous songs? What’s the Billie Jean in Taylor Swift?”
“‘Shake it Off? Really? I heard that the other day and it’s not ‘Billie Jean'”, he continued.
The most recent album by Swift, The Tortured Poets Department, was released last week with 31 songs. Some of them, as usual, refer to the artist’s past relationships.
“To have a successful career in pop you have to have a series of incredible relationships and then end them tragically,” he joked. Tennant. “I wonder how the other half of the relationship feels about it. People don’t write songs like ‘Karma Chameleon’ anymore.”
