Titled Foundations, Serj Tankian’s solo EP will feature music made at the beginning of System of a Down that was never released
Iconic vocalist and frontman of system of a Down, Serj Tankian announced solo EP, titled Foundationsfor the Gibson Recordsand took the opportunity to promote the single “AF Day.”
In a post made on social media, the 56-year-old singer spoke for the first time about the new project, which has not yet revealed a release date. Although, “AF Day” will arrive on streaming platforms, in addition to having a music video, on May 17, 2024. The track features frantic screams and the phrase “another fucking day.”
It is worth remembering how Foundations is the first solo album by Tankian since the EP Perplex Cities (2022). According to information from the Consequence of Soundthe single was written during the “early days” of system of a Downbut was never released.
Most of the instrumentation and vocals are recordings from that era. With a dystopian mood, it is a reflection of the anguish and anti-authoritarian attitude I had to conform,” said the artist.
