Rock In Rio announced news this week. One of these was inspired by the documentary “A Noite Que Mudou o Pop”, broadcast on Netflix, which tells the behind-the-scenes story of the recording of the song “We Are The World” in January 1985.
Inspired by the documentary and the charitable nature of the song composed by Lionel Richie and Michael Jackson, the creator of the festival, Roberto Medina, commissioned a song from Zé Ricardo, artistic vice president of Rock in Rio and also of The Town. Three months later, “Deixa o Cora Levar” has been recorded by 60 artists, from heavy metal to country music, and the proceeds will be donated to the NGOs Ação da Cidadania and Gerando Falcões. The song will officially be released next week.
National rock names participated in the recording, such as Dinho Ouro Preto (Capital Inicial); from axé, like Ivete Sangalo; from the pagoda, like Xande de Pilares; funk, like Ludmilla and also country music, a genre that will be present at the festival for the first time. Chitãozinho, Xororó and Ana Castela were not only present at the recording, but were also confirmed on the Festival’s Brazil Day, which will take place on September 21st.
On this day, the festival will have, for the first time, a date dedicated only to performances by Brazilian artists. In addition to those already mentioned, names such as Alcione, Marcelo D2, Maria Rita, Duda Beat, Daniela Mercury, Ney Matogrosso, NX Zero, Roberto Menescal, Pitty and Zeca Pagodinho will be part of the lineup, which will not have a specific lineup. headliners, but meetings between big names from some of the genres that define Brazilian music.
Rock in Rio 2024 will take place on 13, 14, 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22 September 2024, in Cidade do Rock, in the West Zone of Rio. Tickets will go on sale May 23, at 7pm Ticketmaster Brazil website.
