‘People have been trying to kill heavy metal for 40 years,’ says Judas Priest’s Ian Hill

The only original member to remain in Judas Priest, Ian Hill explained how the iconic heavy metal band managed to ‘survive and overcome this’

Iconic bassist and one of the founders of Judas Priest, Ian Hill was another rock star to talk about the death of the genre. For the artist, heavy metal is suffering a huge boycott, with people who have “been trying to kill it for 40 years.”

During an interview with the YouTube channel Metal Oda, the only original member to remain in the group, was asked what advice he would give himself if he could go back to the beginning of the band’s career, more than 50 years ago. The bassist’s main topic was the importance of “patience and persistence.”

“A lot of things have been thrown at us over the years. I mean, people have been trying to kill heavy metal for about 35, 40 years, so it’s always been kind of fighting the system, if you know what I mean,” he stated. Finally, Hill explained how Judas Priest managed to “survive and get through it.”
