Richard Hawley is preparing to release his next studio album, titled Standing At The Sky’s Edge, and opens up about the state of rock
English guitarist and producer who became famous with the Britpop movement, when he was a member of the band Longpigs in the 1990s, Richard Willis Hawley is preparing to release the next studio album, titled Standing At The Sky’s Edgeon May 31, 2024. However, the context of the news is not the best for the artist, who said that “rock is middle class now.”
During an interview with NME after releasing the single “Prism In Jeans,” which received a music video filmed in the city center of Sheffield, Hawley was asked about a real fear of the cost of the existing crisis for many artists and popular spaces.
“Rock’n’roll is a middle-class thing now. It irritates me. The danger small venues face is a disaster waiting to happen because it just means that Tarquin & The Quentoids will be the next wave of rock’n’roll – and not Dave, Beautiful It is Barry,” he stated. “I’ve been in that position [de lutar para sobreviver]. I was in that position for 10 years, from 16 to 26, and I haven’t forgotten it.”
