Pedro Martins, Lucas Teixeira, Felipe “Fepa” Martins and Gabriel Cavallari released Tudo Happen Agora, an album about love and ‘getting a boyfriend in GTA’
With two band members breaking up, what better way to deal with the situation than making a rock album? With dilemmas from the beginning of adult life, broken hearts, new loves and even gambling on GTA, The Cricket released the second studio album of his career, titled Everything Happens Now (2024).
For the new era of his short career in music, with songs like “Existentialist Serenade,” “Leash” It is “My love,” Pedro Martins (vocal), Lucas Teixeira (battery), Felipe “Fepa” Martins (guitar) and Gabriel Cavallari (bass) decided to divide the album into parts. The first arrived on April 17, 2024 on digital streaming platforms.
Everything Happens Now came about quite naturally, as some songs existed beforeThe Cricket work on the new album. In fact, some ended up being cut. The work took shape over the years, with travel, shows and conversations with fans and fellow artists.
It also had a big difference in relation to the successor album, titled You do not know anything (2021), made completely in social isolation during the coronavirus pandemic Covid-19, with each member separated from each other. Now, they composed the new songs, mostly together.
Officially, the group started working on the album at the beginning of last year, especially after the show at Lollapalooza 2023, in a process described as intense and very cool. “We see these seeds growing, blossoming and becoming songs. It was a super interesting process,” he said. cavalry in an interview with Rolling Stone Brazil. “After that, we played some shows around Brazil, but our main focus was composing these songs, making demos and structuring the planning of what the production, recording and mixing needed to be until release.”
In an era dominated by the agility of streaming services, with a completely accelerated consumption of content, The Cricketwho had 20 new songs to release, decided to divide the album into parts because it would be a bit tiring to release them all at once.
“People would be able to digest it better in parts than if we released it all at once,” he explained. Pedro Martins. “It also makes sense in terms of strategy, marketing… in the world of streaming platforms it is important to have consistency in release. These things happened.”
Today is rock day, baby!
In You do not know anything, The Cricket brought an album with mixtures of Brazilian rhythms, such as samba, brega and forró, and rock and roll. However, for Everything Happens Nowthe quartet decided to focus more on rock, but without leaving Brazilian influences aside.
On the first album, they really wanted to study new musical styles and hear new things. It was a process of rediscovery, with a lot of Brazilian music involved in the process. They wanted to include all of this in a sound anthropophagy — and it worked very well.
“It was a time to discover new styles and try to put them in there. At the Everything Happens Nowall this discovery was internalized and we just expressed ourselves,” he recalled Teixeira. A good addition to this process was always being together, according to the drummer.
All of this was very fruitful for us. We managed to create a very close relationship between us. It resulted in an album that talks a lot about the band, about the four members. And not necessarily about any composer. It comes a lot from this joint place, really.
When asked about this greater impact on rock for the second studio album, the band members were emphatic in highlighting the maturity they had acquired over the last three years, in addition to the natural process of working with the genre.
“As we shoot a lot in the You do not know anythingwe discovered a lot of things that we liked,” he said Fepa. “So the choirs, the guitar riffs, the ‘para pápápá,’ reggae… we brought a lot of that in a very natural way on this new record.”
Rock also served as an instrument for songs that were more emotional and nostalgic. In general, Everything Happens Now also brings a stronger emotional charge than You do not know anything, a lighter album. With rock, we convey this feeling.
The Cricket It was mysterious about when we can expect the second part of the second album of their career, but they said that it is more experimental, with a more latent Brazilianness. And may the four musicians continue with this characteristic sound versatility, which raised great numbers on streaming and played on major stages in Brazil.
