Steve Albinithe legendary rock producer responsible for hits by groups like Nirvana, Pixies It is PJ Harvey, died at age 61. The information is from Pitchforkto whom his team confirmed that he suffered a heart attack in his studio in Chicago.

With more than four decades of career, Albini was the name behind absolute classics such as In Uteroof Nirvana, Pink Surferof PixiesIt is Podof The Breeders. He also participated in bands-and controversies-such as his stints in groups such as Big Black (1982-1987) and Rapeman (1987-1988), known for offensive lyrics, for which Albini would later apologize.

Until the end of his life, he was an advocate for fairer practices in the industry and was recently preparing to go on tour with the Shellac, a group he had been a member of since 1992, on their first tour in a decade. Outside of music, he was also a poker player with several victories.
