The new album by Billie Eilish, Hit me hard and softwas released on Friday the 17th Before the album’s release, some international outlets had already received the album for listening and had published their reviews on Thursday the 16th.
Among the texts, the review from the British newspaper The telegraph was notable for comparing Billie’s album to a classic of Joni Mitchell. “The young superstar’s sensual masterpiece of heartbreak is big enough to stand alongside Blueby Joni Mitchell,” the text reads.
The album also received a positive review from the magazine Rolling Stonewho called Billie’s work an “instant classic”. “Hit me hard and soft makes you wonder how far he has traveled as a pop artist. But it is also an omen that the greatest Billie is yet to come,” the magazine writes.
The newspaper The Guardian gave the album four stars, calling it a “bold” move for a “fascinating” artist. For the magazine New music expressed (NME), who also awarded four stars, the album is “brilliant”, “a portrait of someone who [Billie] is now and who he could become.”
